Vall d'Aran
The Vall d’Aran is a comarca in the province of Lleida, located in the heart of the Pyrenees. It borders France to the north, the Ribagorça comarca (Huesca) to the southwest, and the Pallars Sobirà comarca (Lleida) to the east. The Garonne and Noguera Pallaresa rivers originate in its high mountains. In the Vall d’Aran, Aranese (a dialect of Occitan) is spoken, which, together with Catalan and Spanish, are the three official languages of the area. In winter, one of the main activities is skiing, which can be enjoyed at Baqueira Beret. Throughout the rest of the year, countless high-mountain excursions, hiking, mountain biking, and more are available, ideal for both families and experts.
