NATIONAL PARK OF AIGUESTORTES AND SAINT MAURICI LAKE

It’s the only natural area of Catalonia, which boasts the categories of National Park in its 40.852 hectares are divided between the districts of Alta Ribagorça, Pallars Sobirà, Val d’Aran and Pallars Jussà. They all have a rich natural, cultural and architectural heritage which can be seen in each of the corners of their towns and landscapes

Located in the central of the Pyrenees, the National Park of Aigüestortes and Estany de Sant Maurici is the most genuine representation of high mountain and unique by the dimension its landscapes and the richness of flora and fauna. The glacial phenomena can be observed in the valleys in U-shape, more than 200 natural lakes, the impressive cliffs of “Els Encantats” and its characteristic high mountains meanders.

Between these mountains contain peaks of altitude close to the 3,000 meters, and hosted species such as chamois, the Marmot and the mythic bearded vulture.

This beautiful natural setting has the blue water and sky, the green of the forest and grass, and the white of the snow to walk, see, breathe, touch, smell, and feel.
